Happy Easter and lots more......

what a day- beautiful weather and fabulous food, family and fun!!
boys started with the morning easter egg hunt. i of course got them organic raw chocolate almonds and organic jelly beans but they were still filled with sugar!! wow were they ready for action.

off to the park for bike riding, basketball and play!! i could have stayed at the park all day.

time for my easter cacao treats!! gnosis raw vegan cacao bars- my two favorite!!!

art time with the boys!! we all made masterpieces.

mom mom and pop pop stopped by with their new RV. owen called it their school bus!!

stopped at puree to pick up two green juices for tomorrow and could not resist a maca cacao milk. i brought it home and added dandy to it for a mocha coffee drink!! delish!!

eating cereal makes me feel like a kid and i love that there are plenty of dehydrated raw vegan cereals to choose from. today i did a bowl of go raw apple dehydrated buckwheat, sprinkled with hemp seeds and a few salted pumpkin seeds in almond milk sweetened with a little vanilla stevia and coconut sugar. i ate this as my dinner- how fun!! i felt like a total kid!!

relaxed and read my dwell magazine while eating my cereal!!

one of the easiest raw vegan snacks is sprouted flavored nuts and seeds. i soaked a huge amount of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts and brazil nuts. i drained and rinsed them and mixed them together. then i separated them on to various dehydrator trays and added different spices!! some of my favorite spices are from chef Frank Giglio.
tumeric and sea salt-

this one is my favorite!!

owen lounging on the grass after a fun-filled day!!

have a fabulous week!!

Tumeric Quinoa and more...

We had a nourishing feast for dinner tonight. owen was asking for green juice all day so i had to make another batch for dinner!!

we started with a fresh arugula and herb salad with slices of cucumber and dressing of lemon juice and udo's choice oil. i always munch on raw veggies while i'm preparing everything else. we ate our feast outside in the cool but sunny late afternoon!!

then on to the quinoa dish!! amounts are approximate so experiment and change to your taste!!

1 cup cooked quinoa
1/2 cup lightly steamed peas
2 tbsps scallions
2 tbsps diced red onion
1/2 avocado- chunks
lots of black pepper
2 tbsps chopped parsley
2 tbsps chopped cilantro
1 tsp tumeric (or more to taste)
1/2 tsp cumin
sea salt to taste
1 tsp udo's choice oil or flax oil
*optional- add 1/4 cup edemame
*optional- add 1/4-1/2 cup sprouted organic non-gmo tofu (you can get at moms)

Remember when you eat cooked food always eat raw food with it so the enzymes from the raw foods help digest the cooked food (which has no enzymes).

my thoughts on soy products: i do not believe we should consume soy products on a regular daily basis. if you choose to consume some soy products be sure they are non-gmo organic. i may use a box of sprouted non-gmo organic tofu once a month. it is a fresh change occasionally. my boys love edemame in the pod so i just made sure to use organic non-gmo.

enjoy, kelly

Salad of the day / Fruit Ice Cream / The Zoo!!!!

today was our trip to the zoo!!! what a blast!! we packed up our healthy snacks and off to the zoo we were. before leaving we nourished ourselves with green juices and chlorella of course. the boys also feasted on eggs (organic local farm-raised of course) and sprouted grain bread with almond butter and bananas.

i took my power juice of apple, ginger and maca to the zoo in addition to 16 more ounces of green juice in an old kombucha bottle that i could just throw away. i've been loving the apple, ginger, maca combo lately!! so powerful!!!
cheetahs and zebras

elephants

mason was eaten by a dinosaur!!

tigers

alligators

i took loads of healthy foods that the boys ate up but of course they also wanted just one snow cone. nothing like some "red dye 46" getting into my boys- drive me crazy!! but its what they do 95% of the time that counts. they need to be kids and experience all those chemicals at some point.

home for a relaxing nourishing late lunch/dinner of a colorful salad nori roll.
salad:
arugula
parsley
cilantro
cultured carrots and kim chi
kelp, dulse, arame
alfalfa, broccoli sprouts
1 avocado
lots of nutritional yeast
dressing:
juice of 1 lemon
lots of tahini
1 large clove garlic crushed
1 tbsp scallions
water to desired consistency

the boys had fun making their own fruit ice creams in the vitamix.

banana
mango
goji berries
blueberries
blackberries
strawberries
*i like to add vanilla sun warrior to this for the boys but they didn't want it tonight.

later we played soccer and rode bike in the back yard. it was a beautiful sunny night. my favorite quote from owen while we were playing in the back yard, "don't let the bees get my green juice mommy!!". he was sooooo serious about this.

bath time.

now we are all showered and cozy in our PJs. i'm a big believer in getting in PJs as early as possible to relax, cuddle and enjoy mellow time together- board games, cards, reading, flash cards, etc..

have a wonderful night. kelly

Nori Wrap and Green Tahini Dressing!!

started the day with my spring dragon gynostemma tea!! This tea is supposedly the healthiest tea on earth!!

Another round of amazing juices this morning!! Today was a variety of greens and sprouts in my green juices and pear/apple/ginger juice for a little sweetener!! I always make extra of the fruit juice for mason- he likes a pure fruit juice during the day too. i've been loving my maca lately so i also did a pear/apple/maca/ginger juice today- soooo delish!! it totally energizes you!!

plus i added all my superfoods!!

Owen and I shared a delicious and nutritious salad and nori wrap with a spicy tahini dressing!!

Salad:
sunflower sprouts
alfalfa sprouts
arugula
cultured carrots and sauerkraut
red pepper
dulse and kelp
sprinkle of nutritional yeast
Dressing:
2 tbsps tahini
juice of 1 lemon
1 clove garlic
1 handful parsley
1 tsp cumin
dash of cayenne
dash of sea salt
water to desired consistency
*blend in vitamix
one of the best ways to spice up salads is to get creative with dressings. Its soooo easy to throw in the blender a bunch of healthy ingredients and spices and most of the time they turn out amazing!!
this morning we did lots of painting while drinking our green juice and eating our chlorella tablets!! it looked like we painted green on our faces!!
\

tomorrow starts the boys spring break!! time to have some fun!!!
namaste, kelly
