Power Smoothie & Sea Veggie Delight!!!

Today was a perfect day of family, work adventures and friends. i slept in and woke with the kids today which is fabulous occasionally!!! i was up a little late last night and felt i wanted my complete sleep. After working on juc'd for a few months and not getting my needed sleep i value my full night sleep every night now!! If you do not get your required sleep and feel you need caffeine to function please take time to reassess your schedule and see if you can make changes that allow you to get more sleep and get rid of caffeine. caffeine will eventually kill your adrenals and cause other health problems. Plus- you don't want to NEED anything everyday- except for yoga and chlorella tablets like me!! ha ha!!
i actually did not make my green juice today- believe it or not!! i made a huge power smoothie:

coconut water
mango
blueberries
goji berries
spinach
pure synergy green powder
blue manna
crystal energy
ionic minerals
barley grass powder
pomegranate powder
acai powder
dulse
sun warrior vanilla protein powder

check out my delish meal this afternoon- Sea Veggie Delight! my friend katie was over watching owen for me while i went to a meeting and when i returned we made a raw feast!! i love spending time with like-minded people!!
In a saucepan i added:

olive oil
kelp noodles
arame
hijiki
baby spinach
red peppers
dash of sea salt
i warmed the saucepan very lightly so that my food is still RAW- just warmed lightly. i like this on a cold windy day like today. next, i placed this in a bowl and added sprinkle of sprouted and ground up pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast and sea salt and slices of avocado. We ate this bowl of nutrient-dense food with my spicy curry kale chips and cheesy crunchy kale chips. i also added to the bowl a sprinkle of the leftover ground up kale chips for a little extra crunch. This meal was warm, cozy and totally satisfying. owen ate it with us too!!

bottom of the box of my cheesy crunchy kale chips

tonight is pizza and cupcake night for the boys. yes- i let my kids enjoy pizza and cupcakes occasionally. the key for me is getting the healthiest version of these foods- so its not pizza from dominos or cupcakes from a box!!

have a fabulous weekend!! kelly

Another fabulous day energized by juice and smoothie cleanse. today i nourished my body with 2 2 oz shots of e-3 live, 2 1/2 16 oz green juices, loads of chlorella tablets, my daily supplements and two 16 ounce smoothies.
woke 5ish
warm water, lemon, cayenne
made juice
yoga
e-3 live, green juice, chlorella tablets
morning with boys
took mason to school and went to mommy and me montessori class with owen. we go to the mommy and me class every wednesday and friday and i love it. today's lesson was how to make a sandwich and the "order" of things. when we got home i had my nanny make a sandwich with him and she said he had a blast and ate it all up!! i was soooo bummed to miss it but i had to go to the studio to see clients. of course we have made sandwiches before but he was super excited about making one today.
more green juice and chlorella tablets
studio to see clients
sipped on smoothie while picking up mason at school
returned to studio to see more clients and sipped on power smoothie
home to boys- at the end of the day my house is truly a home. i love coming home, hopping in a hot shower and getting cozy in my PJs. i can then get cozy and be present with the boys. tonight we played a curious george game while listening to classical music and then we read solar system books!! i love reading time and the boys do too. we are all snuggled together in bed learning about the world through reading.
mason is now sound asleep but my little night owl, owen, is showing me his helicopter as i write this!! i love them both soooo much.
my juices and e-3 live!!

my power smoothie ingredients:

coconut water
blueberries
mango
banana
spinach
pure synergy green powder
blue manna green powder
barley grass powder
acai powder
camu camu
pomegranate powder
dulse
ionic minerals
crystal energy

It was delicious!!

Juice Cleanse Day / Being Mommy

Simple cleanse day during my busy work day. today i saw clients from 6 am- 6:30 pm with a break to take mason to school and for yoga between 9:30-11!! i need energy during days like this to stay present and 100% focused on my clients. Eating simple such as juice cleansing works best for me!!

woke
warm water lemon cayenne
probiotic, digestive enzymes
warm water lemon cayenne all morning
9:30 yoga at yoga fusion
i couldn't wait to eat my chlorella tablets and drink green juice. i was craving it while doing yoga!!
11-1:00 e-3 live, green juice, chlorella
2:30 supplements
3:15ish beet juice, carrot/ginger juice
4:30-5 carrot/ginger juice
7:30 drank my kombucha while playing monopoly with boys

when my "work day" is done my responsibilities as mom start. i open the door and its time to be there for my boys. days that i work i make the time we do spend together all about quality. so i focus 100% on the boys and taking care of their needs- not needs like giving them a bath or getting them water (that too)- but i mean needs as in truly listening to what they are saying. being present in the moment. letting them know that i'm there and love being there!! giving them attention and loads of encouragement!! every night we do "special time" where they get to choose any activity for me to do with them and i need to totally immerse myself in that activity. This gives them the opportunity to know that they have me all to themselves at least for that 30 minutes. tonight we played monopoly!! mason loves that game!!
the boys playing with their new remote control cars!!

as their mom i'm there to encourage them to be the best people they can be. i'm their biggest fan and i want them to know that no matter what is going on in life i'm always there. i'm very conscious of every action i do around them and every statement i make. i want them to experience mistakes and learn from them. i want them to be independent thinkers!! there are soooo many things i want for them.
i take advantage of every moment possible with them. i'm grateful to have the opportunity to raise my two little boys and see them develop from day to day.
it is amazing being a mom!! thanks mason and owen!!
no matter what happens in your day be present with your kids when you get home. some days you may need to take a few deep breaths before walking in the door but just take a moment and remember that they just want our attention- give them your full attention and they will feel encouraged as they go to bed.

Grocery Shopping Day & Sunflower Sprout Salad

i loved the snow today and so did the boys!!
owen getting hit with a snowball thrown by mason

mason wearing his crown he made in French class today and gathering snow for snowballs

i love mondays because its grocery shopping day for owen and i. i drop mason at school and off to My Organic Market and Whole Foods to get our nourishment for the week!! My refrigerator is always stacked with loads of greens, sprouts, fermented veggies, avocados, sprouted nut/seed butters, superfoods and more.

in my pantry and drawers i always have my staples such as sea veggies, more superfoods, herbs and medicinal mushrooms, goji berries, dehydrated crackers, kale chips etc...

this is my wall of tinctures, minerals, flavored stevias for the boys etc..

So i did not get to make my pad thai this weekend but it will be coming soon- i promise. Today i feasted on my delicious and nutrient-dense sprout salad and kale chips. Owen and I had a quiet lunch listening to classical music and discussing the colors of his trucks- there was no other place i would have rather been!!
i started with sunflower sprouts

added fermented veggies- kim chi

owen eating the kim chi out of the jar before i could get it in his bowl

added sea veggies- kelp and dulse

added tahini- the only brand of tahini i'll eat is rejuvenative foods!! love it!!

ate my sprout salad with a bowl of kale chips- ok- three small bowls of kale chips

owen eating his second bowl of kale chips

the complete meal

owen helping me vacuum after our lunch- kale chips are sooo messy!!

one reason i like writing my blog is to inspire you to try new foods and prepare them in new and different ways. don't be afraid to introduce foods to your kids because you never know what they will like. i want you to discover that nature's food is truly the most nutrient-dense and the most delicious. the transition from a standard american diet to clean eating can be tough but just take it day by day and be patient with yourself, your family and everyone around you. even if your kids are not ready to eat fermented veggies if they see you doing it often they are more likely to at least try it one day.

i also love writing my blog because it is another way to reflect on the day. i always smile while writing the blog and it makes me very grateful for my kids, my work, my life and soo much more. make choices daily that help you reach your long term goals and live the life you want to live!!

the next three days are busy work days and liquid nutrition cleanse days!!

have a fabulous night.

Kale Chip Day!!

Just returned from the park with the boys. A little cooler today but soooo refreshing!! this morning i woke early to make my green juice and practice yoga. my body and mind were craving a quiet yoga session. we had a gathering at my house last night and as much as i love parties and social engagements i always enjoy the quiet after them- it brings me back to balance. i of course need my green juice, e-3 live and chlorella to really start my day right!!

saturday and sunday mornings and thursday nights are tai kwon doe days for mason. he now has 4 yellow stripes and will be testing out to be a yellow belt soon. i feel this is great for mason on many levels including discipline and physical activity. It combines movement with a deeper meaning of life and purpose. they teach the kids to try their hardest, do their best, to be kind to others and many other life lessons that are beneficial for everyone.

i made a huge batch of kale chips this morning that will probably only last us a week because we all love them!! check out all the kale just waiting to me smothered with goodness and dehydrated. i have two nine-tray dehydrators and all of this kale fills both to the top. This is 5 heads of kale.

i tried a new spicy curry recipe that was fabulous. check it out. You can use this spicy curry recipe as a veggie dip, salad dressing or a spread for a wrap. I used about 1/3 the batch of sauce on one head of kale. Take the sauce and massage onto the kale thoroughly. Place in dehydrator approximately 118 degrees for 8-12 hours.

Spicy Curry Sauce
3/4 cup soaked and drained sunflower seeds
1/4 cup hemp seeds
1 red bell pepper
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp tumeric
3 tsp curry powder
dash cayenne- to your taste
1/2 tsp sea salt - to your taste
1 clove garlic
water to desired consistency- approximately 1/4-1/3 cup
blend all the above ingredients.

here is the finished product with additional sauce on top!!

i also made a huge batch of my typical kale chips. All with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, nutritional yeast and sea salt and then 1/2 of this batch with cayenne too. I love the cayenne but the boys do not!!

i ate them hot out of the dehydrator!! i love kale chip days!!

Mason loves his new map!! He is learning sooo much.

Nutrient-Dense Dressing

What a beautiful january day!! i love mondays and fridays because i'm home being mommy all day- total focus on family and the boys. i like to wake up early to make my juice and do my early morning yoga practice. it gets me centered for the day. then if i have time i sit down at my computer to return emails before the boys wake up. Fridays i take owen to a mommy and me montessori program that he and i both love. later we were off to My Organic Market to get fresh ingredients for some yummy dishes i'm going to make this weekend. The produce at MOMS is truly sooooo fresh. i stopped at whole foods yesterday for a few things just because it was convenient and considered getting my kale there for my kale chips but the kale was floppy. the kale at MOMS was fresh and crisp. i got 5 heads to make loads of kale chips with a variety of different toppings.

today we started the day with our green juice, e-3 live and chlorella tablets- i'm telling you i can't imagine starting my day any other way. remember- it is important to vary your greens. don't do the same greens and sprouts every day- get a variety of them into your body. Sunflower and Pea Greens are the most nutrient-dense.

as you know i don't often follow recipes. i wanted a nutrient-dense sauce for the kids to dip veggies in and for me to cover some sprouts with. here is what i threw into the blender and it tasted fabulous:

2 tbsps tahini
1 red pepper
small tsp chick pea miso
handful cilantro
a few leaves of spinach
1 tsp tumeric
1 clove garlic
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp dulse
1 tsp kelp
cayenne to taste
dash sea salt
water to desired consistency

it was delish!! i added the above dressing to this sprout salad with rejuvenative foods fermented veggies. very nourishing. owen ate it too.

when you are deciding what to eat think about the nutrient-density of the meal. use sauces, dressings and dips as a way to add not only flavor but nutrients to the meal or snack. this dressing would go great over noodles, steamed or raw veggies, salads or even over a baked sweet potato. get creative in the kitchen!!

pics at the park:

enjoy the beautiful weekend.

Juice Cleanse till 3:00 pm

what a beautiful day!! tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous also so i'm looking forward to lots of play time outside with the boys.
today i juiced all day and then had my first solid meal in 6 days around 3ish. after cleansing for 6 days you don't need to eat much to feel full. i ate about half of what i usually eat and felt totally satisfied. i feel best when i'm living on liquid nutrition because i feel very light and in-touch with my body. i practice yoga every day because that also gets me in touch with where my body, mind and spirit are that day. when i'm cleansing and practicing yoga i feel very connected to the earth and everyone around me. i feel very present and mindful in all situations. after eating a meal of solid food i feel "heavier"- i don't mean as in weight but in regards to the energy its taking my body to break down the food. when you drink liquid nutrition the body does not need to work as hard to break the food down and therefore, i have more energy to live life. when you eat solid food the body needs to work harder to break it down and therefore, you have less energy left over for life. when eating solid food remember to chew it 100% till its totally liquid, eat slow, eat mindfully and eat in a relaxed atmosphere.

my day:
woke
digestive enzymes, probiotics
warm water, lemon, cayenne
made my green juice for the day
yoga
green juice, supplements, chlorella tablets- sipped my green juice and ate chlorella tablets while returning emails this morning.
love reusing the bottles from puree for my green juices- they are less messy than my mason jars!!

saw clients at studio- sipped on more green juice
10:15 90 minute massage- i see a bodyworker every other week. i feel bodywork is important for the balance of not only the musculoskeletal system but also the mind and spirit. Finding someone you see regularly who truly gets to know your body is important.
12:00 warm water, lemon, cayenne
Back to studio to see clients
3:00 digestive enzymes
3:15ish sweet potato, broccoli, peas with tahini and sea salt

7ish kombucha tea

look out for some fun recipes coming up in the next few days!! raw pad thai and spicy kale chips are just a couple!!
