Liquid Nutrition

i love living on liquid nutrition. by liquid nutrition i mean juices, smoothies, tonics, elixirs, shots, soups and i even consider some of my ice creams as liquid nutrition!! i often go for a few days on liquid nutrition to give my body a rest and allow for easy digestion. you can do a pure juice cleanse or you can do a more creative cleanse that includes shots like wheatgrass or e-3 live, tonics like reishi "coffee", or elixirs such as my detoxify elixir which i gave you the recipe for yesterday. today was a day of liquid nutrition.

Spicy Lemonade 1 16oz
16 ounces water
juice of 2 lemons
1/4 tsp cayenne

Pineapple Green Juice 2 16 oz (plus made 2 16oz for hubby and owen)

sunflower, alfalfa and pea sprouts
kale, chard, collards, romaine
ginger, lemon

2 tbsp pure synergy green powder
1 tbsp barley grass powder
1 tbsp wheatgrass powder
1 tsp blue manna powder

Delish Day!! Juice and Smoothie Recipes!!

what a beautiful december day!! today was a fabulous day of eating well, moving well, playing with the kids and being in nature.
woke around 6:30 to make my juice. i loaded it with sprouts as usual. remember, you don't have to torture yourself drinking green juice you don't like- add apple, pear, or pineapple juice to sweeten it up and then lots of lemon and ginger!! it always tastes fabulous- especially pineapple juice (tomorrow is going to be a green pineapple juice day for me!!- look out for that recipe).
today's green juice:

loads of sunflower, pea, broccoli and alfalfa sprouts
handfuls of kale, collards, chard, romaine, spinach, cilantro, parsley, bok choy
3 apples
lots of ginger and lemon
my batch made enough for 2 16 ounce glasses for me, 1 16 ounce for hubby and 1 16 ounce for owen (mason did not want any today).
i blended one of my 16ounces glasses with 3 tbsps chlorella tablets- it gets thick and frothy.
kids came to equinox with me- they have a great kids play area so the kids can have fun while i work out. we headed to puree after the gym and boys got almond milk, banana, strawberry smoothies that they loved!!
they had 2 more smoothies at home later made of almond milk, mango and banana!!

my 30 ounce power smoothie today included:

coconut water
pure synergy green powder
blue manna
ionic minerals
acai powder

we got out in nature and played at the park today:
owen still loves his kazam bike

mason loves his new scooter he got for christmas

around 3:15 i ate my warming fall meal of a baked sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli, and steamed peas with dash of sea salt dressed in tahini!! totally satisfying.

my favorite tahini. sprouted nuts and seeds are easier to digest and more nutrient-dense compared to regular. rejuvenative foods is a brand of nut/seed butters that are all raw organic and sprouted!!

the kids chowed on my crunchy cheesey kale chips!!

owen's new favorite bar is this VEGA bar- he loves them!!

check out the chocolate ring around his mouth after eating two vega bars:

i'm doing a 3 day juice and smoothie cleanse so check out the blog the next three days for recipes for my juices and smoothies!!

have a fabulous new years!!

Refresh and Rejuvenate!!

i had to get the opportunity to do what i thought i wanted to do to realize it was not exactly what i wanted!! ok- so its been almost a month since i last wrote and soooo much has happened since. The presses have stopped- Juc'd, LLC is no longer going to open.

There are many reasons for this but basically it was more than my partners and i wanted to take on at this time in our lives. both my partners and i had the best of intentions but it was not meant to be. i LOVED the creative process during the last few months. i thrive on the creation of something new, fun and interesting. i don't look at this turn of events as a negative but instead it was an amazing learning experience. its another experience that builds who i am and what i do in this world. i truly believe we are all on a path and what is meant to happen will happen. if you ever feel like you are forcing something to happen than most likely it is not meant to be and you should take a moment and reassess if its the right path. the day to day life of owning a retail shop is not what i want right now. i have two amazing kids who are young and need me now and i need them. i love living my daily wellness. i like getting my required sleep, waking up refreshed and energized, making my juice and nutrition for the day for my family and i, working out/doing yoga, transforming people's lives with my work, spending time with my husband and family and then having time for spontaneous activities. during the months of developing juc'd i kept a very strict schedule and it was just toooooo much to continue with. it may have mellowed out over time but i had to face the reality of owning a retail business- its a lot of time and energy on the biz. all that said- the great part is that i have the whole juc'd experience under my belt and now i'm refreshed and rejuvenated. i've taken the last 2-3 weeks to just clean out, organize my thoughts and go inward. i gave myself time to just be and to peel away the layers.
so what have i been doing with my nutrition and daily wellness lately. here it goes:

tongue scrape/brush teeth
water, lemon, cayenne (sometimes a shot of cocobiotic)
take probioitic, digestive enzymes
make my green juice for the day: loads of sprouts, greens, ginger, lemon and either apple, pear or pineapple for sweetness.
i love lots of ginger and lemon!!!

lately i've been blending my chlorella tablets with half my green juice instead of eating them because it saves time (chewing chlorella tablets gets sooo messy- plus i just got a new car and i can't eat messy chlorella tablets in it!!!)
workout at equinox: variety of elliptical, weights, yoga
sauna at equinox
drink green juice with chlorella tablets after workout (early morning)

i take variety of supplements throughout day: b12, b-complex, multi womens, D3, vit c, calcium (all whole food supplements)
i always take my digestive enzymes before meals- love healthforce nutritionals!!
later morning have green smoothie: organic fresh coconut water, berries, banana, fruit, greens such as spinach, kale or chard, green powder, blue manna powder, acai powder or other antioxidant powder, squirt of minerals, dulse, variety of other superfoods that i rotate- camu camu etc....
other days i may do a reishi capp to get herbs and medicinal mushrooms in my diet
my main meal is ideally around 3ish which may be sprout salad with fermented veggies and tahini or sweet potato meal (in the fall and winter i love my sweet potato with steamed broccli and peas mixed with tahini and sea salt!)or pate meal or blended raw soup etc....
i still love to finish my night off with my kombucha
thats a little summary of what i've been doing for my own wellness.

in regards to my blog most days i will write about my daily wellness rituals and life, share raw living food recipes to experiment with and make your own, provide you with ideas to get kids eating healthier and get you moving more and inspire you to live well and make the most of every day!!

during the time that i was creating juc'd i developed many amazing recipes- with inspiration and help from colleagues and friends (thanks to all the taste-testers!!!). here is one of my favorites that my friend marie passed along. this one is called DETOXIFY:

1 cup fresh organic coconut water (ideally from an organic young thai coconut)
1 handful cilantro
1 tbsp chlorella tablets

blend all the above ingredients!! it is a sweet frothy delight and totally detoxifying!!!

Juc'd may not have opened but Puree is here!! Puree opened today in Bethesda next to equinox and i love it. i know amy walden and she is doing fabulous things!! she is bringing fresh norwalk pressed juices to the masses!! i love it. today i had a shot of beet juice. my intention is still to make my own green juice daily because i have control over the variety and amounts of sprouts, greens etc.... that go into my juice. but i will buy my extras there such as beet juice, carrot juice, coconut water and milk when i don't feel like making it myself. there are plenty of times that i'm out and about and i just want to pick something up. now i can!! thanks amy and puree!!
i'm very excited to see what 2012 brings me. i'm amazed every year at how much i have experienced and how much i continue to grow and learn.
i'm extremely grateful to everyone that supported me during the development of juc'd!! i felt like i was sharing the experience with sooo many of my clients, colleagues, friends and family!! i love you all for everything!! i especially love all the stories that came my way when i told people why juc'd was not happening. i received many emails and calls with the basic story of "you never regret spending more time with your family, living slower and taking care of yourself."

i look forward to spending 2012 living my wellness and inspiring others explore their wellness!!!

Tasting Party and Breakfast of Choice

Good morning!! i just returned from my workout at equinox and i feel fabulous- elliptical, weights for upper and lower body, yoga poses, stretching and foam roller. when i'm working with clients i find that 99% if you schedule your workout in the morning and make it a daily ritual it not only gets done but you begin to crave it and thrive on the energy you get from the workout. It truly impacts my entire day! i feel like i've taken time for myself and can then be the best mom, business owner, nutrition coach etc and give to others.
my advice with any form of movement is to be mindful and present while doing anything. it is very easy to drift away in the gym atmosphere and even in a yoga class. One key with movement is that it needs to be done correctly to truly be beneficial. so focus on the details of all your movements.
my breakfast of choice:

my fuel most mornings is green juice and chlorella tablets. I love chewing my chlorella and sipping on my green juice. it is what i find replenishes me in mind, body and spirit.
today's juice:
sunflower sprouts
broccoli sprouts
alfalfa sprouts
pea sprouts
WOW!! it is awesome!! i'm drinking it right now while eating my chlorella tablets with a big green grin!! Don't forget to rotate your green!! i love my little straw cups too!!

I'm in the midst of prepping for a taste testing party on sunday which will include many "Juc'd" signature products- shots, elixirs, cold-pressed juices, tonics, nut milks and raw living soups. I love the creative process of not only developing recipes that are delicious but that give the body something!! For me there is always a reason why i drink or eat something- it may be to increase energy, to provide minerals, good fats or protein or maybe just to cleanse by eating light. not a meal goes by for me and my family that i don't think about how this food is going to make me/us feel. I want you to become aware of how your meals and snacks make you feel. challenge yourself to switch up your choices so that you food/drinks meet your mind, body and spirit needs.

have a fabulous weekend!! drink, eat and be happy!!

Halloween Fun!!

i love the fall. this morning the boys and i were catching the falling leaves from the trees and jumping in HUGE piles of them!! it was soooo refreshing and fun!!!
did a great morning smoothie for owen today.
almond milk
pure synergy green powder
blue manna
goji berries
probiotic powder
reishi powder
dash vanilla stevia
he loved it!!!

check out our halloween fun!! everyone asks me what do i do about all the candy?? kids need to be kids and i'm not going to stress about them having a little candy. it is what they do 90% of the time that matters. so i let them eat whatever they want halloween night. the next day i let them have a couple of pieces and then i throw it all away (or give it to my nanny- as i did this year).
mason the transformer and helen the mermaid- what a beautiful couple!!

the transformer and lightning mcqueen attacking daddy!!
