Love Bethesda Central Farmer's Market!!

started the day with my pure green juice!!  savory and delicious!!

cucumber
celery
sunflower sprouts, pea sprouts
kale, beet greens, spinach
parsley, cilantro
garlic, ginger, lemon

today was a perfect day to head to the outdoor market and get some fresh local produce!!!
check out the delish fresh simple salad:

mixed greens from one of the produce vendors
sunflower sprouts
alfalfa sprouts
pea sprouts
fresh organic tomato from one of the vendors
scallions, garlic, lemon juice

we ate it with loads of kale chips - both my spirulina garlic and my cheesey crunchy!!  there were kale chip crumbs everywhere!!!

enjoy the rest of this amazing day!!!

Juicy and Crunchy!!

i think i could live on my sprout/green juices and kale chips!! every batch of my sprout / green juice tastes different which is part of the fun of juicing. even if you use the same ingredients and same amounts (which i never do)it is going to taste different because each piece of produce is unique!! nourish yourself every day with loads of green juices!! ideally - leave the fruit out most of the time!!
cucumber
celery
sunflower sprouts
pea sprouts
alfalfa sprouts
kale, spinach, parsley, cilantro, romaine
lemon
ginger

i truly have to say i make the best kale chips in the world!! today i did my original cheesy crunchy recipe which i've done a thousand times and they always taste amazing!! mason was my little helper today!!
then i did a batch of the garlic spirulina. when arranging them on the teflex sheet i clumped them together more so they will be thicker and crunchier!! they were fantastic this way- much more dense!! i also doubled the amount of the dressing i smothered on the kale and this made a huge improvement from my last batch.
1 large head kale or 2 small heads kale
4 tbsps hemp seeds
2 tbsps spirulina
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp miso
2 cloves garlic
2 tsp pure synergy
1/4 cup water
*blend all above ingredients and smother on kale. dehydrate 8-12 hours or until totally crispy. i also sprinkled additional hemp seeds on top!!
the dressing:
i ate my fresh kale chips out of the dehydrate with a delish energy soup i through together. sorry no pic!!
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup kale, parsley
huge handful sunflower sprouts
1/2 cucumber
1 red bell pepper
1/2 avocado
1 tbsp dulse and kelp flakes
1 big spoonful cultured sauerkraut
2 garlic cloves 1 inch fresh ginger
*blend all ingredients together!! eating kale chips with a blended soup is perfect because the soup provides hydration!!
enjoy, kelly

Optimal RAW juice feast!!!

This week i did three days of liquids with minimal sugar!! it felt fabulous!! the liquids included:
alkaline water
lemon water- i love meyers lemons

lemon water with cayenne
herbal teas including- spring dragon, rooibos
cucumber juice

loads of sprout/green juice my days primarily consisted of my sprout/green juice with lemon and ginger!! i still made apple or a fruit juice for the boys and family and would occasionally put a little splash in mine. but for the most part it was an optimal raw few days!!!

tonight i finally indulged in a delish coconut smoothie. i made almost the same one i made the other day and it tasted soooo sweet and heavenly!!
1 1/2 cups coconut meat
1 cup coconut water
huge handful cilantro
3 huge handfuls spinach
1 tsp vanilla powder or vanilla bean
1 dropper vanilla stevia
1/2 tsp cinnamon

i suggest everyone take at least one day a week to do just fluids!! hydration is one of the most important keys to optimal health and wellness!! even if you are juicing all day you still need pure water!!

Juice / Yoga / Nutrient-Dense salad day!!!

Today i did a yoga workshop all day and when i'm focused on mind/body movement i can not eat food. when i eat my energy goes towards eating and its not as focused on precise movement. Drinking juices all day is ideal in this situation. so today i juiced and practiced yoga all day and then had a nutrient-dense salad around 4ish. i woke early before the workshop to juice loads of green juice and carrot/ginger juice!!

my nutrient-dense salad of the day:

arugula
sunflower sprouts
herb mix greens
cultured carrots
red pepper
dulse
kelp
scallions
red onion
avocado
sprouted sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts, almonds and walnuts seasoned with curry!!- these were the homemade ones from the other day!!
hemp seeds
lemon juice
dash of cumin, tumeric and sea salt

*i mashed it all together and yum!!!! i ate it while watching my boys play baseball out back.

check out my little juicing helper!! he loves how the hurom just eats up all the veggies and then it comes out as his "green juice". if you could only here how he says green juice!! its sooo cute.

he was attacking me with chard!!!

practicing knife skills cutting apples.

enjoy the beautiful day tomorrow. kelly

Two Delish Smoothies!!!

Today was a crazy coconut day. As i've said before i now only eat the exotic superfoods brand coconut water, meat and smoothies!! they are soooo delish. I drank a whole bottle of the coconut water today- it is soooo good. here is the smoothie i made today using my coconut products.

3/4 cup coconut water
1/2 bag of the coconut meat (approximately 1 cup)
2 huge handfuls of spinach
1 large frozen banana
1 tbsp crystal manna (bluegreen algae)
1 tsp organic vanilla beans
dash of sea salt
2 droppers vanilla stevia

oh my gosh it was fantastic!!! it was soooo good i made a second batch.

Monday I made this nutrient-dense smoothie which the boys enjoyed!! but don't let it sit to long or else it congeals due to the ground flax.

3/4 cup water
2 cups kale
1 1/4 cup blueberries
1 frozen banana
1 orange, peeled
1 tbsp ground flaxseed

here are my flavored sprouted nuts and seeds (look at previous post to see how to make). I store them in mason jars and these will last about up to a month. they are excellent to add texture to salads, soups and sooo much more..

check out my super star!!

Happy Easter and lots more......

what a day- beautiful weather and fabulous food, family and fun!!
boys started with the morning easter egg hunt. i of course got them organic raw chocolate almonds and organic jelly beans but they were still filled with sugar!! wow were they ready for action.

off to the park for bike riding, basketball and play!! i could have stayed at the park all day.

time for my easter cacao treats!! gnosis raw vegan cacao bars- my two favorite!!!

art time with the boys!! we all made masterpieces.

mom mom and pop pop stopped by with their new RV. owen called it their school bus!!

stopped at puree to pick up two green juices for tomorrow and could not resist a maca cacao milk. i brought it home and added dandy to it for a mocha coffee drink!! delish!!

eating cereal makes me feel like a kid and i love that there are plenty of dehydrated raw vegan cereals to choose from. today i did a bowl of go raw apple dehydrated buckwheat, sprinkled with hemp seeds and a few salted pumpkin seeds in almond milk sweetened with a little vanilla stevia and coconut sugar. i ate this as my dinner- how fun!! i felt like a total kid!!

relaxed and read my dwell magazine while eating my cereal!!

one of the easiest raw vegan snacks is sprouted flavored nuts and seeds. i soaked a huge amount of sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts and brazil nuts. i drained and rinsed them and mixed them together. then i separated them on to various dehydrator trays and added different spices!! some of my favorite spices are from chef Frank Giglio.
tumeric and sea salt-

this one is my favorite!!

owen lounging on the grass after a fun-filled day!!

have a fabulous week!!
