Zoo, Connecting with my Boys, Daily Nutrition and more..

Today i had a fabulous day connecting with my boys. today was one of those days where we had no place we had to be and it did not matter what time it was. we could go with the flow and be spur of the moment all day. i love days like this. i tend to be a planner so to "let go" and just do what we want when we want is a great feeling.

i want to remind everyone to truly listen to your kids and all people you communicate with. listen to their words, read their body language, their tone, facial expression and eyes. when i became a parent one intention i set for myself was to truly listen (and all the other things i listed above) to my children, hear what they are telling me or trying to express to me, let them know that i "hear" them and "understand" them and finally respond as i see fit. at this stage with a 2 year old and 4 year old they both communicate in different ways but as their mommy i most of the time understand what they are trying to communicate. i love the lifetime of stages of being a mommy!!

so here was my day:

6:30 mason woke me up
morning yoga, music and rebounding with boys
water with probiotic, mega hydrate
drank green juice and made breakfast for boys- which included chlorella tablets
shots of liquid iron and acai juice
more green juice with supplements
10:30 stopped for tea and little snack with boys
11:00 off to zoo
they loved the elephants

daddy was at the US Open but mason wore the hat he got him alllll day!!

the apes were my favorite

snack break for some lemon ice- they were huge. when i was little they were 1/3 the size- hello sugar!!

owen loved the water sprinklers!!!

they loved crawling through the tunnels and chasing each other in the zoo park

mason fed his stuffed panda bamboo from our backyard. we searched and searched for the real pandas at the zoo but they were hiding all day.

it was a fabulous day bonding with my boys!!
4:00ish to the market ate dinner and ice cream outside- it rained a little by it felt great!
i love eating ice cream out with the boys so i picked up a new raw vegan ice cream that whole foods now carries. it was a great treat and refreshing after a hot day at the zoo.

we came home, boys got baths and we all jumped into my bed to watch NEMO.
now i'm sipping on my kombucha reflecting on my day.

i'm soooo grateful for days like today.

David Wolfe, My Nutrition, Kids and more...

i attended David Wolfe's weekend seminar in Baltimore and it was fabulous. Loads of like-minded people, inspiration and raw living foods knowledge. i love it!!

Friday morning check out the kids eating their chlorella tablets and playing in the back yard.

Friday afternoon before leaving for Baltimore the kids and i set up a lemonade stand to cool down our neighbors!! Mason was sooooo excited when a family of 5 stopped and gave him $5 for a few cups of lemonade- thanks to that family- you totally made my son's day.

While serving lemonade we munched on my newest raw vegan ice cream flavor- coffee with cacao nibs (made with Dandy Tea or teechino- both give fabulous flavor).

This morning i made my green juice with pineapple as the sweetener instead of apple. it was fabulous and very refreshing!! Plus i threw in a handful of dulse. Drank this while eating my chlorella tablets

After the pool i made a nutrient-dense medicinal mushroom drink.

Gynostemma Tea as the base
1 scoop sun warrior vanilla protein
1 huge tbsp reishi powder
1 huge tbsp chaga powder
1 tsp noni powder
1 tbsp noniland honey
The kids, joe and i munched on an organic raw chocolate bar filled with superfoods

Finally i indulged in a combination of my coffee ice cream and my chocolate ice cream. the two eaten together but separate was fabulous!!

The kids enjoyed their raw vegan chocolate ice cream in their gluten-free cones.

i'm a big believer in reassessing what and how you eat all the time. i love experimenting with new foods, herbs, superfoods and longevity products to see what can give me the energy that will allow me to do everything i want to do every day!!! i'm always trying to fit 3 days into 1 day. i want to make the most out of every minute and experience life for everything it has to offer.

i have lots of new projects in the works so i need as many superfoods and herbs as possible to get these projects, classes and retreats to you asap!!

David Wolfe at Elizabeth's Gone RAW

Fabulous night!! Nourished with amazing raw foods, surrounded by like-minded people doing wonderful things in the world and listening to David Wolfe who is soooo motivating and inspirational. i'm so energized i may be pulling an all-nighter because my brain is in overdrive right now. i love feeling this way- its all the CACAO and superfoods i ate tonight plus all the positive energy in that room. thank you to elizabeth for connecting so many wonderful people!!
i sat at david's table during our amazing raw meal-love chatting raw foods- he speaks my language!! couldn't resist taking a picture with him.

one thing i love about him is he truly gives off an energy for living life to the max. i make the most out of every moment. life is about living in the NOW!! do what you want to do NOW!! don't just think about it or plan it- do it NOW!! i love this.
i first met david in nutrition school when he came to speak on raw foods. i thought to myself "i want to take/eat whatever this guy is doing!!". 5 years later and i continue to be devoted to my raw living foods lifestyle and learning everything i possibly can about fueling the body/mind/spirit optimally.
the menu was filled with superfoods to take our nutrition and energy to the next level!!

Crispy Kale Chips which had the perfect amount of spice- big kick of cayenne!!

Salad of Spring Mushrooms- yellow and blue oyster, beech, royal trumpet and hen of the woods on butter lettuce with truffle vinaigrette

Olive cannelloni with parsley salad and heirloom tomato-basil relish

Cacao layered cake with goji berries and chocolate mousse

we literally licked our plates of this one

i then decided to try one of davids cacao bars which was also amazing.
i connected with many friends that i had not seen in a while. my friend rebecca and i.

my friend amy getting her book signed.

i will be attending his event in baltimore this friday and saturday. excited to be inundated with loads of raw living foods knowledge and meet many more raw foodies!!

Vita-Mix Blender Class and more....

Today was my Vita-Mix Blender Class and wow did the participants get to taste test lots of nutritious and delicious treats. a few of my goals with this class were to: 1-introduce people to the vita-mix blender which i feel is one of the most important tools you can have in your healthy kitchen 2- show the participants that nutritious food can also be delicious and satisifying 3- teach people more about the benefits of eating the raw living foods diet.
This is my kitchen which i designed so i could do my food demonstration classes at my house. i could spend all day in this space- and i often do!! we had a packed house today.

i even had a videographer there. here i come u-tube!!

Making the green juice

prepping an orange for the dandelion goji smoothie

Straining the nut milk

my two interns helped me soooo much today- taking pictures, prepping food, serving participants, cleaning up and more...- thank you very much for all your help!! here they are serving the blueberry hemp milk smoothie

look at the color of this amazing Creamy Red Pepper Soup!!

demonstrated an amazing Almond Cheese: Garlic Pepper Rosemary

here is one of my favorite pates: Sunny Sea Veggie Pate

amazing chocolate avocado pudding

finally, the art of making raw vegan ice creams!!

i always plan to demonstrate more than i actually get done. after participants left i continued my raw food creating and made 4 more pints of ice cream, another nut cheese and another favorite pate- Sunflower Sundried Tomato Spinach.

here is the recipe:
**Notice i used my food processor. i often use my food processor for pates- but today in class i wanted to show you that you can use the vita-mix blender too.
2 cups soaked raw organic sunflower seeds
1/2 cup soaked sundried tomatoes (soak in approximately 1 cup of water-enough water to cover sun dried tomatoes) (you will use the soaking water in recipe.
2 cups greens- i used 2 cups baby spinach
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 tbsp italian herb blend (i use frontier organic herbs/spice blends)
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
optional- 1 tbsp dulse and or kelp

place all ingredients in food processor or vitamix and process till desired consistency. if you like it chunky process lightly. if you like it smooth process longer. add more water if needed to get desired consistency.

use this in collard wraps, nori wraps, on a sprouted grain bread sandwich, mixed in with sprouts and greens to make a salad, add a scoop to the side of a soup or salad or just eat it alone.

after the fabulous class and loads of clean-up

the family was off to t-ball practice where owen played on the playground and mason received his first baseball trophy from his T-ball coach!! i love kidball t-ball. i'm soooo proud of him. sorry no picture- was caught up in the moment.

thanks to everyone for being great participants. i hope everyone learned many techniques they will use to feed themselves, family and friends well for a lifetime!!

enjoy.
