Make your own Nut/ Seed Milks

It is sooo easy to make your own nut and seed milks that i find it crazy to buy it!! If you make your own you can vary the nut and seeds you use and get a variety of different nutrients. plus you can add the extras that you want. You can vary the sweeteners you use such as dates, coconut sugar, stevia or honey. You can vary the spices such as vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, chai etc. You can add superfoods such as cacao, mesquite, lucuma etc. I challenge you to start experimenting with making your own.
My plan for the next three days is to do liquid nutrition days of green juices in the morning, smoothies in the early afternoon and a nut/seed milk late afternoon. Check out the nut milk i prepared today for the next two days.
Soak your raw organic nuts and seeds for approximately 24 hours- Nuts at minimum 8 hours and seeds at minimum 4 hours. Soak them to get rid of enzyme inhibitors and to bring them to LIFE!!

Rinse the soaked nuts and seeds and blend with water. I do 1 cup of nuts or seeds to approximately 4-5 cups of water. if you want it thicker you can use less water. If you want to use tea or another liquid instead of water you can. For instance to add antioxidants use gynostemma or rooibos.

Blend the water and nuts and seeds on high speed approximately 1-2 minutes.

Use a nut milk bag to strain the mixture and separate the nut milk from the pulp. This is your base nut milk. The pulp you can save to use in cracker or bread recipes.

Add your extras such as sweeteners and spices. To my almond milk i added organic vanilla bean, dates and cinnamon. i usually love ginger in this too so i will juice some ginger tomorrow to add it.

Store your final product in bottles.

Make chai milk, cacao milk or strawberry milk!! have fun with it!!

enjoy, kelly
